Thanks for taking the time to check us out. We’re a husband and wife photography team specializing in Portraiture, Weddings and Architecture. My name is Holt, my beautiful redheaded wife is Carissa and we are thrilled and honored that you chose us. Between the two of us, we have over 20 years of photography experience and we just keep getting better. That’s the trick… keep learning and evolving.
There is more about who we are in our About page, so I’m just going to jump right into this blog.
It may be January, but we just finished a fantastic senior portrait shoot in Chattanooga with Claire, who will be heading off to college and a theatrical career next year.
One of our favorite places to shoot is the abandoned US Pipeworks by I-24. I’ve shot there quite a bit, including a themed family portrait that included fireworks and lots of smoke!
It’s one of those almost perfect places, with Lookout Mountain and the sunset in the background, all sorts of industrial abandonment and even some flowers and grasses in the Spring. It’s currently under partial development, so I don’t know how much longer we’ll be able to use the space, but we’re certainly going to take advantage of it as long as we can.
Claire’s shoot was a lot of fun, but being January, it was a bit chilly. But Claire was a trooper! She never complained and she maintained a level of enjoyment and professionalism that will serve her well in her future acting career. In fact, it was fun for all three of us and you can see it in the imagery.
We are still working on the final edits, doing some work in Adobe Lightroom & Adobe Photoshop and applying the finishing touches with some action sets from Greater Than Gatsby & Lara Jade. It’s some of our best work so far, and (as I mentioned above) we just keep getting better.
Most of that credit goes to Carissa, who brings a feminine perspective to my work and has a fantastic eye for color and composition. In fact, it was her idea to start working with the Greater Than Gatsby actions. They’ve made a big difference in our post-production and have actually helped us understand our own process much better.
While we’re finishing Claire’s portraits, I’m also working on a unique art piece for her to hang on her wall when she heads off to college. It will be a custom piece in the style of my Parolè Collection and since it will be going in her dorm, it will be a bit smaller than the rest of the series (which average 4ft x 8ft) and will be printed on canvas to keep it light.
That’s one of the best things about our business… if we do a good job and provide a good product, our clients will come back with more ideas and more projects for us to explore. And we LOVE the creative challenge! It’s a great place to be. 🙂
