The Mystery of Grace

“I do not at all understand the mystery of grace – only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.”
-Anne Lamott

On the day before her senior portrait session was scheduled, Loren and her family had to endure one of the most heartbreaking moments in their lives. They had to place her beloved father into a nursing home. He is only forty-three years old, but Huntington’s Disease has slowly destroyed his body and mind, robbing him of precious time that should have been spent with his family.

This has been one of the hardest things she has ever had to face, but knowing how strong and positive her father has been through this journey has helped her find the strength to smile and forge through the pain that has taken up an unwelcome residence in the confines of her heart.

On the day of her senior portraits, she was able to smile one of the prettiest, most radiant smiles we’ve ever had the pleasure of capturing. The light was perfect, she was able to let go for a moment and, as a result, magic happened.

Loren…such a beautiful heart and soul…
